What does a Project Manager / Business Analyst do at NextGen?

As a Project Manager / Business Analyst at NextGen, you will lead and coordinate cross-functional initiatives that deliver product and platform enhancements. You will work closely with product owners, engineers, designers and stakeholders to define requirements, manage delivery timelines, and ensure outcomes align with business objectives. This hybrid role combines structured project management with hands-on business analysis and is ideal for someone who can translate stakeholder needs into clear, actionable work and drive teams to deliver reliably.

Key responsibilities:

• Project delivery: Plan, track and report on project schedules, risks, dependencies and budgets using established delivery frameworks and tools.

• Requirements analysis: Elicit, document and validate business and functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria through workshops, interviews and stakeholder engagement.

• Stakeholder management: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitate decision-making, and communicate progress and issues clearly and promptly.

• Process improvement: Analyse existing workflows, identify opportunities for optimisation, and help implement repeatable processes that improve speed, quality and predictability.

• Delivery support: Work with product, QA and engineering teams to prioritise work, clarify scope, support testing and acceptance, and assist in post‑implementation reviews.

• Reporting & governance: Prepare regular status updates, dashboards and artefacts for leadership and governance forums to ensure transparency and alignment.

Essential Skills & Experience

• 5 -10+ years experience as a Project Manager/Business Analyst in a similar role within a Finance related discipline such as mortgage, asset finance, retail lending environment

• Experience working with software teams in an Agile and SCRUM environment

• Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills, including user stories, process maps and acceptance criteria.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

• Competence with collaboration and project tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, MS Project or equivalent) and an ability to quickly adopt internal tooling.

• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a focus on delivering business value.

• Strong knowledge of lending practices within Australia
